The League of American Wheelmen

is an organization to promote the general interests of cycling; to ascertain, defend, and protect the rights of wheelmen, to encourage and facilitate touring, to promote the improvement of roads, and to regulate the government of all amateur sports connected with the use of the wheel.

The League has made it possible for a cycler to ride the wheel on any street or highway in the United States. When the League was formed the bicycle had no legal recognition; now it is universally recognized as a carriage, and may travel with impunity wherever any carriage does.

This pamphlet is issued for the benefit of those who are called upon to defend the rights of wheelmen in the Courts, and may be had free of cost by sending a two-cent stamp for postage to
